My Favourite Animal

My favourite animal is the horse. It is a very useful and beautiful animal. The children in particular love to see it.

It has a smooth, shining body. It has a long tail and hard hoofs which can enable it to walk speedily on roads. A horse is a very useful animal. It is generally used for riding purposes arid sometimes as a beast of burden.

Since earliest times, horses have been used for various purposes and to draw the chariots of kings and other royal personage and carts for other people.

A horse is a smart, swift-moving animal. In the battle between Alexander and Porus, one important factor for Alexander's victory was that he used horses and infantry whereas the army of Porus was on the backs of elephants which were too heavy and slow in movements as compared to horses.

Even in the two important battles of Panipat, Babur and Ahmad Shah Abdali won because they sent in the battlefield a battalion of cavalry comprising fresh unfatigued horses and men quite at the most crucial moment.

Sher Shah Suri used horses for his proverbial mail system on the Sher Shah Suri Marg (Grand Tank Road or National Highway) I Through the ages horses have been used for riding purposes by people of all categories. They are also yoked to tongas. Horses are used for races in lottery and in games such as polo. Thus, horse is a very useful animal.
