The Independence Day of India
Our country got independence from
the British rule on 15th August 1947. This day is celebrated all over the
country with great pomp and show.
The Independence Day is
celebrated in Delhi at the Red Fort. The Prime Minister of India hoists
(unfurls) the National Flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort. A salute of guns
is given to the National Flag.
The Prime Minister delivers a
speech. He tells the people about the problems, projects, programmes and
achievements of the government during the year.
He requests the people to stand
united to preserve the freedom of the country. Then he asks the people to
repeat 'Jai Hind' three times. The function comes to an end with the singing of
National Anthem.
The Doordarshan telecasts the
whole programme. This function is celebrated in all schools and colleges all
over the country.
This day reminds us of the united
sacrifices of the freedom fighters. All the public places are illuminated.
