A Journey by Air

A journey in an airplane is very thrilling and exciting. One feels like a bird flying in the air. But some weak-minded people are scared of such a flight. Otherwise, it is fun to be on an airplane.

During the last spring holidays, I went to Bombay with my father on an airplane. We went to the Palam Aerodrome. There we saw many airplanes. Some were buzzing high overhead; some were just taking off, and some were landing.

A plane was ready to fly we had got our seats reserved and so occupied our seats. The pilot is in a smart uniform took his seat. The propellers whirred, there was a sudden roar and the plane started. It did not take off all at once. For a minute or two, it ran like a car bumping along the ground. Then it gained some speed and began to rise higher and higher.

Soon we were high up in the air. The hangars and aerodrome were left below. It was a novel experience for me. I felt very happy. The ground appeared to be dropping away beneath us. We were soaring higher and higher. We passed through clouds and it filled me with a thrilling sensation.

We were now circling over Bombay city. Down below, everything looked small and far away. The tall buildings looked very small and roads appeared like thin lines. The fields and gardens looked like carpets spread. I saw the train moving. It was no bigger than a toy train. People walking on the roads looked like pygmies. It was all very strange and wonderful.

The plane now began to fly down. In a few minutes, we were hovering over the aerodrome at Bombay. The plan guided down and touched the ground. It ran for a minute or two before coming to a standstill. I came out of the airplane. It was a very wonderful experience. I enjoyed the flight.
