A Picnic or Excursion

One Sunday morning, the sky was cloudy and a cool and gentle breeze was blowing. My friends and I decided to go on a picnic. We left our homes on cycles at 6 a.m. and carried a good quantity of eatables with us. After cycling for half an hour we reached the bank of the Sutlej. The river scenery was very charming. We parked our cycles and slipped into our swimming dresses. Then we had a dip in the river. Thereafter we played some country games on the sand of the river bank. After this, we sat down in a circle to take a little rest. One of us entertained the company with sweet songs. Another companion narrated a few titbits. We were in a very happy mood. So we chatted and laughed. We heated the food on the stove. We had a hearty meal. In the meantime, it grew very hot. So we took a rest under the shade of trees. All except one of us went to sleep in the cool shade of trees. We got up at 4 p.m. Then we played cards for some time. Then we again had a dip in the river. After some time we were ready. We had tea and snacks. By then it was 6 p.m. It was a happy day in the open fields in the pleasant company of friends.
