"An author it is a vulnerable name!
How a few deserve it, and what numbers claim".
Rabindra Nath Tagore was one of the greatest poets of India in the language of Bengali. He was born in Calcutta in 1861. He lost his mother when he was just a child. In nature, he found a friend and companion. He wrote his first book of poems when he was eight. These poems showed his great love for nature.
Tagore married a beautiful girl when he was twenty-three. He used to behave a goodwill with his beloved wife. After his marriage, he went to look after the family estate. Here he composed several parts plays and poems in Bengali. Some of the songs of the famous Gitanjali also belong to this period. The Gitanjali and The Gardener made the poet win the Noble prize in literature for his inspiring production of Gitanjali.
Rabindra Nath Tagore was the poet, dramatist, and essayist of recent times in India. An author is truly a respectable name and very few deserve it through all aspire for it. In fact, once in a thousand years comes a man who is an author in the real sense and who acts as the mouthpiece of the dreams and the aspirations of the people. Such a writer was Homer, the author of the Iliad in Greece, Kalidaas the author of Shakuntla in India, Dante the writer of Divine Comedy in Italy, Shakespeare, the creator of Lear and Hamlet in England and Tolstoy the writer of War and Peace in Russia.
Rabindra Nath Tagore was a person with a dynamic personality. He was very much impressed by the teachings of Lord Buddha. He followed the path of Ahimsa. He wanted to see mother India to be a famous and prosperous country.
Tagore's patriotic songs are characteristic of him. They are refined and restrained and free from bluff or boasting. Some of them touch the tender chords of our hearts. Others worship the motherland and bring to her offerings of sincerest feelings and noblest sentiments. A few contain a clarion call to our drooping spirits. They fill up with this hope and the strength to do, dare and suffer.
Rabindra Nath Tagore was a writer of versatile genius. I love him for his love for the country and for his message of love and tolerance to the suffering humanity. Each of his songs or story has something noble and inspiring for the reader. Really he was a great man. He will remain a source of inspiration for the coming generations.
