A Visit to a Hill Station
"Travelling must give us first-hand information about things,
places, persons, and events."
Hills have always attracted people living in plains. The beautiful natural surroundings charm our life. In summer, the air is bracing there and the weather is pleasant. In plains, it is extremely hot.
My school had closed for summer vacations. I wanted some rest from the grueling work of studies and examinations. My parents put several proposals along with a visit to Nainital. It was decided that we should go to Nainital and spend some days there in the lap of nature. It is a place away from the humdrum ways of Delhi. My father got an accommodation looked at Nainital for one month.
We reached there. Our bunglow was near the top of a mountain. The scenic beauty fascinated me very much from this place. There were huge mountains surrounding the Nainital Lake. The majestic mountains offered a beautiful and majestic sight.
I spent hours either in the company of mountains or in boating on the lake.
Sometimes, I would climb the mountains snow view, 'Dorothy seat' and 'Cheena Peak' climbing the mountains was not so easy but climbing down the slopes is easy. The Himalayan Peaks were a charming sight from there.
Besides, these mountains and lake, there is a skating ring also which is a place for enjoyment. There are girls and boys skating and enjoying. Sometimes we skated and enjoyed ourselves and forgot the surroundings. While we skated we felt that the world was going round.
The mornings and evenings are very pleasant at Nainital. Nature is the most beautiful and most attractive. The golden rays of the sun color the snow-clad mountain peaks. The trees and the flowers are laden on the branches and twigs of trees and plants looked like jewels studded on the necklace of nature. The setting sun glowed orange on the mountain peaks. Slowly the darkness of night envelops Nainital.
The night sky appears to be jewel-studded like the role of 'Queen Night'. The dancing lights on the lake look like fairies dancing in the darkness.
Bhimtal is another picnic spot along with Hanumangarh. Nature can be seen in all its majesty from here. Nainital is not only a beautiful spot but a health resort. The days spent here enriched me with health and vigor. It gave me a vast store of energy to begin my studies anew.
The visit to Nainital enhanced my knowledge greatly. I collected some botanical plants and pieces. The natural environment was not only pleasant but educative also like the 'State of Nature' of William Wordsworth which was a teacher to him.
