My College

"Come to learn and go to serve" It is generally said, 'No knowledge without college'. A college is a great seat of learning. A person who has never been to a college cannot develop the faculties of his mind.

A felt very much excited on the day of joining the college after finishing my school education. I found a lot of differences between school life and college life. The world of the school is narrow. Teachers in a school are very strict. They use the rod to beat the boys very often. But college professors are like one's elder brothers. College teachers live in the world of books and ideas. There are students of all types in college. College students discuss current affairs, art, cinema, sports, and sex. Some of them do not even bother about the class lectures. But they do not miss the running commentary of a cricket match being played in any part of the country. College students cut classes to see an important film. There is a lot of freedom in a college. In school, I used to be busy from the morning to the evening. But in the college one has to attend only three or four periods. There is no physical punishment in the college. One has to pay a fine for breaking a rule.

College professors are liberal, kind-hearted, and sympathetic. School teachers are narrow-minded and unkind. College life has made me aware of politics. The college union elections have given me firsthand experience of the working of democracy.

My college is co-educational. It has pleasures of its own. One can become friendly with girls and pass time very pleasantly. One of the girls in the college has become a very sweetheart. She has agreed to be my life companion. I like the college life for its freedom, its charm, and academic atmosphere. There is a romantic about being in a college. One is free from the worries of earning one's living. I shall never forget the happy days spent in the college.
