Dear Veena,

I hope this letter finds you in the best of health and cheer. However, there is bad news from my side.

Our mother has been suddenly taken ill. She collapsed while working in the kitchen yesterday. We had to rush her to the hospital. Doctors said that she may have had a stroke. Right now she is in the Intensive Care Unit. Father and I have taken a turn to be at the hospital.

It would be nice if you could be with us in this trying hour. In case you are able to come please give me a telegram. I will receive you at the Railway Station. Rest till we meet again.
