APJ Abdul Kalam

APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October, 1931, in Tamil Nadu. He was the 11" President of India from the period 2002 to 2007

He received honorary doctorates from many Universities Internationally. In the year 1981, he received the highest civilian honor, the 'Padma Bhushan' the 'Padma Vibhushan' in 1990, and the 'Bharat Ratna' in 1997. Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was the first scientist and bachelor to occupy the seat of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam regards his work on India's nuclear weapons program as a way to declare India's place as a future superpower. Even during his tenure as President, he took a keen interest in the spheres of India's science and technology. He has even put forward a project plan for establishing bio-implants. He is also a zealous supporter of open source software over proprietary solutions to stir up more profits in the field of information technology in India.

He is a man of vision, who is always full of thoughts. He strongly believes that India needs to play a more aggressive role in international relations.

He is referred to as the 'Missile Man' of India. He was highly loved and respected by people during his tenure. He was known as the 'People's President'. He will always be remembered by the people of India as a selfless President who, without any personal selfishness, worked for the upliftment of the country. He is a great person who never loves to sit idle but is always preoccupied with scientific work.
