अस्थिरं  जीवितं  लोके  यौवनं धनमस्थिरं  |

अस्थिरं  पुत्रदारादि धर्मः कीर्तिर्द्वयं स्थिरं  ||





अर्थ:

इस संसार में प्रत्येक व्यक्ति का जीवन काल, यौवन और धन, जैसे उनकी पत्नी, बेटे आदि भी अनिश्चित हैं और स्थायी नहीं हैं। धार्मिक तपस्या करने से जो नाम और कीर्ति मिलती है वही अटल रहता है


Meaning:

In this world  the life span, youth, and wealth of every person, as also his wife, sons, etc., are uncertain and not permanent. Only the name and fame one gets due to observance of religious austerity remain steadfast.
