Narada

A holy personage and celestial musician, Narada appears in every 'Purana'. He appears in the stories pertaining to all the three Yuga-namely Krita, Treat, and Durapara. Usually, he makes his characteristic entry in stories with a Veena in his hand and chanting the name of Lord Narayana.

Narada told the story of his birth on his own to Ved Vyasa. He was once an angel and an expert musician in heaven. He was diverted toward the apsaras who in turn cursed him that he would be born as a little despicable human being on earth. But his association with the good and great men and untiring Tapasya for God changed his world. He was blessed by Lord Narayana that from his next birth he would be his close attendant. It is said that Narada had an intense urge to travel and preach to the people, uttering words of wisdom and telling people stories carrying moralistic messages. Traversing the three worlds, he spread the path of devotion to the Lord.
