Biography of J. Krishnamurti
(1895 - February 17, 1986)
Jiddu Krishnamurti was born in a Brahmin family in Madras in 1895. At a very young age he was initiated into the Theosophical Society by famous Dr. Annie Besant.
J. Krishnamurti was one of the profound Indian philosophers of the international reputation of the modern age. He advocated new meaning to spiritualism and salvation so that it could be accessible to the common man. He absolutely denied faith in traditional prayers and the institution of 'Guru' or Master'. He professed that 'we have to give birth to a new man'. He believed that Man should be imparted a new type of education which would enable him to seek truth without any preconceived opinion.
J. Krishnamurti was also a very good writer and his books contain his philosophical thoughts and teachings. He wrote almost 25 books and his most famous book is "Song of Life'. He gave utmost importance to meditation. He said that the aim of every human being is to seek the Ultimate Truth. Krishnamurti died in America on February 17, 1986.
