Biography of Mumtaz
Mumtaz was born in 1946. During their early teens, Mumtaz and her sister Mallika started going to the studios and did whatever roles that came their way, however insignificant they were. She caught viewers' as well as the producers' attention while doing smart roles in films like ‘Sehra’ and 'Mere Sanam’.
During the mid-1960s, Mumtaz did sixteen films with Dara Singh, which were 'B-grade films but were commercially successful. One of her major breakthrough came when Dilip Kumar agreed to have her as one of his heroines in 'Ram Aur Shyam’ and then V. Shantaram replaced his daughter Rajshree with her in his film Boond jo Ban Gaye Moti'.
And finally with her films with Rajesh Khanna – ‘Do Raaste', 'Saccha Jhootha', ‘Apna Desh' and 'Dushman' - Mumtaz reached the zenith of her career. With the film ‘Khilona', Mumtaz won critical acclaim. In 1974, she gave up all for marriage to a London-based Mayor Madhvani, a millionaire.
