Biography of Vinod Mehta
(Born: 31 May 1942, Rawalpindi, Pakistan - Died: 8 March 2015, Delhi)
Vinod Mehta, the energetic and dynamic Editor-in-Chief of the Outlook magazine, was one of the youngest editors when he took charge of the Debonair', in the 1970s. Besides, he has served as the Editor of the 'Indian Post'. He has been the Founder Editor of prestigious publications such as "The Sunday Observer", 'The Independent', 'The Pioneer' and the Outlook. He is also the President of the Editors Guild of India.
Vinod Mehta is author of three books. His latest book is 'Mr. Editor'. It is a compilation of selected articles written over 25 years. He says: "Politicians and journalists are natural adversaries.” More often it is a love-hate relationship between the two as the professional interest of the editor is bound to clash with that of the politicians.
Vinod Mehta is currently giving final touches to Hathway Investments to enter television software production. Even his publishing house gets ready to launch a 'serious travel magazine and the U.K. edition of its flagship brand Outlook.
