A Drowning Accident

It was a pleasant morning. The sky was overcast with clouds. A cool breeze was blowing. Nature was at her best. I went to the riverside for a stroll. Many boats were sailing up and down the river. At one place some boys were bathing. Near the bank, the water was very shallow. But towards the midstream, it was very deep. One of the boys was not a good swimmer. He jumped into the river and swam to the midstream. As ill-luck would have it, he was caught in the waves. He cried for help. As he was a bit naughty, his friends thought that he was simply joking. They paid no heed to him. I knew that the boy was really in danger. I, at once, slipped off my clothes and jumped into the river. I swam to the drowning boy. I caught hold of him by the arm and swam back to the bank. He was unconscious. His condition was critical. His companions were all in tears. I laid the boy on the bank with his face downwards. I applied pressure on his back. A great quantity of water streamed out of his mouth. Fortunately, there was a doctor among the picnickers. He gave first-aid to the boy. After about half an hour, the boy regained consciousness. He opened his eyes. All heaved a sigh of relief and thanked God. The boy was lucky to escape death. I took the boy to his house. I told his father all about the accident. He was overjoyed. He thanked me heartily and blessed me again and again.
