A Visit to a Historical Building
A critic said, "The Taj is a drop of tears of love frozen in marble."
Ours is a country of beautiful buildings that tell us the glory and grandeur. These beautiful buildings were raised either as temples, forts, or memorials in the memory of someone whom a prince, a king, or an emperor loved. The Taj is a building that represents the love of Shah Jahan for his Begum Mumtaz Mahal. This beautiful building stands on the bank of the river Yamuna in Agra. This building is a majestic structure, a dream in marble, and an attraction to the visitors. It is the eighth wonder in the world.
The first entrance is made of red stone. The second gate stands on the platform. Its border is decorated with the sacred words from Quran. After passing through this gate, we come in front of very spacious ground having lawns and beautiful trees and plants along with a row of charming fountains bubbling with water. Photographers swarm the visitors for taking their photographs in order to do business.
Then we climb the stairs and reach the platform where the beautiful dome stands. This big dome contains two graves one of Mumtaz Mahal and the other of Shahjahan!
The grave of Mumtaz Mahal is decorated with flowers and couplets from Quran but the grave of Shahjahan is a simple one. These graves are artificial. The real graves are below these graves. Here a guide sits near the graves and gives valuable information about these graves to the visitors. Its walls are engraved with beautiful designs. The walls are covered with beautiful mosaic work. Any sound made under the dome echoes for one minute. There are four minarets on the four corners of the platform on which this beautiful dome is constructed.
It is said that the beauty of the Taj enhances the full moonlight when the sky is clear. It shines in the light of moon-like silver. It is a joy of every eye.
