A Visit to a Hospital
Visit to a hospital is indeed an unpleasant experience. The atmosphere in a hospital is gloomy. Last week, I had to visit Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where my cousin, who had met with an accident, was admitted. I went to the critical ward and saw a number of patients lying in their heads. Some patients were plastered on their legs while others had bandages on different parts of their body. A doctor and a nurse were attending on them as I wanted to see more of this hospital. I then went to the medical ward. Here also. I found a number of patients lying in their beds. As compared to the patients in the surgical ward, their faces were more thoughtful and gloomy. They were suffering from various kinds of diseases and the doctor was attending to them very nicely. The nurse was administering injections to some of the patients, the others were given medicines. While returning, I saw the operation theatre. It appeared that an operation was in progress inside the theatre as the light outside the gate exhibited a sign in red that the operation was in progress. I came out of the hospital with a heavy mind. It was a place of suffering and a place of healing. I saw humanity in a different shape here. The hospital left an impression on me that the care paid to the patients in this hospital was praiseworthy.
