A One-Day International Cricket Match

A cricket match is fascinating and thrilling. It provides fun to the spectators. It removes the dullness of life. It inspires young boys and girls to play. It teaches discipline and sportsmanship

Last Sunday, I witnessed a very interesting one-day international cricket match. It was played between India and Pakistan team at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium Thousands of people came from different parts of India to see the match. Even people from Pakistan were there. A large number of local spectators had come to witness the match. Umpires were noted for their judgment and impartiality. One of the umpires blew the whistle and both the captains entered the field. There was the spin of a coin.

The Pakistan team won the toss. They decided to field. The Indian team came to the pitch to bat. The performance of the opening pair was very good. They were Rahul Dravid and Sourabh Ganguli. Rahul Dravid was out for 90. Next came Sachin Tendulkar, the master blaster. Sachin too played well with Sourabh. This pair raised the score to 240. Jadeja had a score of 85 runs. He hit many fours and sixes. He was, however, run out. The Indian team scored 380 runs for three wickets in 50 overs.

After lunch, the Pakistan team started playing well. The opening pair scored 80 runs in just 10 overs. In the eleventh over Srinath was successful in getting a breakthrough for India. After that, the new Pakistani batsman too played well. But he was caught by the wicketkeeper for 95. After that Pakistani batsmen tried to play carefully. The required run-rate increased to twelve runs per over. The commentator declared again and again that there was little life in the match. It was the Indian team which won the match

The spectators were thrilled to watch the good performance of the Indian bowlers, particularly the last six overs bowled by Srinath and Kumble. In my life, it was a rare opportunity to see an international one-day cricket match.
