A Policeman

A policeman is a very useful and important public servant. His duty is very hard. Sometimes he is working in the day while sometimes he is on patrol at night. He guards our life and property. He helps in tracing out the culprits and gets them booked.

The policeman has always been a very important person. All look to him for help in distress. He is a custodian of peace in his locality. He is generally tall and strong. He is very smart and active. He wears a Khaki uniform. He has a black shining belt around his waist. He carries a baton in his hand. Sometimes he carries a rifle also. The policeman on traffic duty carries a whistle with him.

The policeman has to perform many duties. His chief duty is to keep order. He sees that laws are obeyed. He guards our houses and property. He asserts the criminals and takes them to the police station. He stands at the crossings and controls traffic. Thus he is very helpful to the public.

The policeman in our country is reasonably well paid. Still, he sometimes accepts bribes. He is not as polite as he should be. Sometimes he is even rude. Let him be rude to the hardened criminals, but he should be polite to the complainants.

But things are changing now. The policeman is becoming more and more responsible. He has begun to feel that his duty is to serve the public. The day is not far off when the Indian policeman will be a model for others.
