Good Manners

"The gentle mind by gentle deed to know. For a man by nothing is well betrayed as by his manners."-Sponcer

Good health is man's most precious possession. One who enjoys good health can enjoy life in the real sense. There can be no real happiness in life if one does not have good health. Good health is the key to success in life and a source of true enjoyment. Good health means that one should be physically fit. He should have a disease-free body. He should be capable of doing physical as well as mental labor. Without health, one can neither do great acts nor think thoughts. One cannot buy good health for any amount of money. To have good health a man must observe certain rules and live a regular, disciplined life. Freedom from care and worries is the first requirement of good health. One who is always worried can't enjoy good health.

A balanced diet is very necessary for good health. Besides this, clean surroundings, fresh air and water, and regular exercise are some of the other essentials of good health. To enjoy good health one must keep away from smoking and drinking. Over-eating and eating too many fatty foods also go against good health. Similarly, overexertion and irregular habits work against good health. Young people must try to build healthy bodies. This will help them to live a happy life. The only one who has a healthy body can have a healthy mind.

A man may be noble, but if he is not mannerly in his conduct and behavior, he is liable to be misunderstood because he cannot be agreeable to those with whom he comes in contact e.g. to be punctual is a sign of good manners. When we have fixed an appointment, it becomes our duty to keep the appointment to a minute. If there is any delay on our part, we must offer handsome apologies.

Still, politeness, sympathy, respect for elderly people, and a desire to help others are very paying. The display of these qualities will win friends and admirers. Hatred, jealousy, tendency to quarrel with others, and an irritable temper are the enemies of good manners.
