If I Were The Prime Minister of India

"Greatness is measured by goodness". I am an Indian. There is democracy in my country. Everyone can become Prime Minister. India needs a strong and dynamic Prime Minister. There are many problems India faces today. There is the problem of food shortage, the problem of education, unemployment, foreign exchange, law, and order problem. There is a further problem that the situation is going from bad to worse. The seat of a Prime Minister is not a bed of roses. It is full of difficulties. As a Prime Minister, I would make a number of changes.

In India, poverty is sticking to the countrymen like an ugly disease. My head hangs in shame when I see my countrymen leading their lives at a sub-human level. The first thing I would do be to provide them work and suitable accommodation so that they may live like human beings. They are the citizens of this country. They have a right to lead a normal life. A person at such a level never thinks properly. He is always at the mercy of others. His nature becomes like that of a slave. This needs to be looked into and modified.

The second revolutionary reform would be in the sphere of education. Today, there are two types of schools-schools for the rich and schools for the poor. I would convert all the schools into one category, i.e. all the schools would be good schools where a high standard would be maintained. The medium of instruction would be English and the pattern of education would be on the N.C.E.R.T. pattern. Thus every child whether rich or poor would receive the same education.

The next reform I intend to make would be to remove corruption. Corruption is eating the moral values of our life. Society is full of corrupt people. This needs some thought as to why a man becomes corrupt. I would try to fulfill the basic needs of the citizens. I would make them equal partners in the business they are doing. They would have a sense of participation and feel responsible. The rules of proper evaluation and assets etc. would be regulated properly. The defaulters would be dealt with severally.

Next comes the status of women. I would stop the dowry practice women's education would be compulsory. Vocational education would be introduced. When they complete their education, they would be given jobs in social security. I would make the agriculture industry on modern lines. Defense of the country would be strengthened. Relations with neighboring countries would be friendly. All efforts would be to see economic prosperity of the country and self-sufficiency in every field.
