Television is the latest invention of science. It combines sound with sight. It is one of the greatest wonders of science. Through it, we can hear as well as see the singer or speaker. It is becoming very popular. Children may go without food but they cannot go without television programs. It is no longer a luxury now but has become a necessity at present.

Television is indeed a miraculous invention of science. It is a grand magic box. It is an improvement upon the radio. It combined both light and sound. It appeals both to the eye and the ear. With the introduction of satellite transmission, television has now reached almost every nook and corner of this vast country.

Television is a source of entertainment, information, and knowledge. It is an entertainer as well as an educator. It combines instruction with delight. When we are lonely or sad, it entertains us. It telecasts news bulletins. Our T.V. programs include children's films, feature films, interviews, and talks by scholars, short plays, songs, and test matches.

Television has an influence on youthful and plastic minds next only to the parental influence. It is the mechanical parent of the child. It is also of great use to the housewife. She can divert herself after finishing the chores of the household. There a special programs for housewives dealing with cooking, knitting, stitching, interior decoration, health hygiene, etc. special programs for students. Children, men, and women are a joy for all. Television is an important source of information. Goods can be advertised through it. Television has also enlarged the scope of the teaching profession. Drawing rooms equipped with a T.V. set can give us the benefit of a classroom. We can use television for national integration, communal harmony, family planning, and countless social, economic, political, and literary problem.

But T.V. is not a pure blessing. It has its blemishes too. It damages the eyes. It wastes the precious time of students. At times it is used for false propaganda vulgar and immoral films and songs corrupt the morals of young boys and girls. It is the duty of the government to see that this potently influencing mass medium is not misused. Programs should be interesting and instructive. They should elevate while they entertain.
