आहारनिद्राभयमैथुनानि सामान्यमेतत्पशुभिर्नराणां  |

ज्ञानं नराणांमधिको विशेषो ज्ञानेन हीनाः पशुभिः समानाः ||




अर्थ:

भोजन, नींद, भय और यौन इच्छा जैसी बुनियादी/सामान्य जरूरतें इंसानों और जानवरों दोनों में आम हैं। लेकिन उच्च स्तर की बुद्धि और ज्ञान (अच्छे कर्म करना) मनुष्य की विशेषता है। अगर किसी कारण से किसी व्यक्ति में इन गुणों की कमी है, तो व्यक्ति जानवर से अलग नहीं है


Meaning:

Basic/common needs like food, sleep, fear, and sexual desires are common among both humans and animals. But the higher level of intelligence and knowledge (to perform good deeds) are the specialties of human. If for some reason these qualities are lacking in a person, then the person is no different from an animal.
