Biography of Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan was born in 1965. The son of film producer, Tahir Hussain, Aamir Khan, before becoming an actor, had assisted Uncle Nasir Hussain in film-making for three years. It was the film "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, released in 1988, that made him popular among the Indian youth. A stupendous success, the film brought a fresh wave of romance and musical melody in the prevailing era of violent and action-packed films.

In 1990, his film 'Dil’, directed by Indra Kumar, was tremendously successful, and Aamir became an overnight star. He distinguished himself with the acting caliber he displayed in Mahesh Bhatt's film - 'Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin'. This performance continued in the films - "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', Andaaz Apna Apna', and To Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'. His ability to immerse himself in a role was exemplified in the film ‘Rangeela', where he merged himself into the character of a black marketeer. His film 'Lagaan' was internationally acclaimed and nominated for the Oscars.
