Biography of Acharya Narendra Dev
Acharya Narendra Dev was an honourable socialist leader of modern India. He was a lawyer by profession. His frankness and socialist views earned him the respect of Gandhiji and Subhash Chandra Bose. He was one of the first persons to join the Non-Cooperation Movement.
Acharya Narendra Dev was born in 1889. He knew many languages like Pali, Sanskrit, French, and Hindi. He was a good writer and an effective orator. His widely acclaimed book is 'Buddha Dharma Darshan'. He was instrumental in advancing socialism in India.
Acharya Narendra Dev was the founder of All India Kishan Sabha. In 1934, he was elected the President of the Socialist Conference held in Patna. He was also the leader of the Congress Socialist Party. In 1937, he became a member of the UP Legislative Assembly. He also distinguished himself as an educationist. In 1927, he was made the Vice-Chancellor of Kashi Vidyapeeth. He also became the Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow and Benaras University. He died in 1956.
