Biography of Asha Bhonsle

Asha Bhonsle was born in 1933 at Satara in Maharashtra. Her father Dinanath Mangeshkar trained her in classical music. She has dominated the Indian films' playback singing for more than three decades, along with Sister Lata Mangeshkar.
Asha Bhonsle's foremost distinguishing capability is probably the versatility of her singing. From rock to bhajans, pop numbers, and frenzied cabarets to ghazals, Bhonsle's vocals have the capacity to animate every category of songs.
Her first solo number was in the film ‘Raat Ki Rani'. Her best-known early work was with O.P. Nayyar. S.D. Burman too lapped Bhonsle's flair for light flirtatious numbers in films like 'Paying Guest' and 'Nau Do Gyarah'. O.P. Nayyar exploited her amazing tonal control in songs like Jaiye aap kahan jayenge' and 'Yeh hai reshmi zulphon ka andhera' Once previously married, she married music composer R.D. Burman, with whom she shared a passion for music.
