Biography of "Bundu Khan"

Bundu Khan, an extremely talented Sarangi player, was born in 1880 in Delhi. From his childhood, he started learning Sarangi from his maternal grandfather Ustad Songi Khan. Later on, his maternal uncle Mamman Khan taught him.
Bundu Khan was very keen to learn Sarangi playing. After completing his education in Sarangi, he went to Indore where he was appointed as a court musician. He stayed back in Indore for about 25 years. In 1934, he wrote a book named 'Sangeet Vivek Darpan'.
Bundu Khan took part in numerous musical conferences and had given company too many eminent singers. He was awarded many prestigious awards during his lifetime. During India's partition, he sent his family members to Karachi and himself stayed in Delhi. But unfortunately, when he went to Karachi to fetch his family members, he was not allowed to leave Pakistan by the Pakistani government. He died on January 13, 1955, in Karachi.
