Biography of "Daler Mehndi"

Music, as the saying goes, is the soul of living and Punjabis have created a niche for themselves with their sonorous and pulsating music. No matter what the occasion, people can be seen gyrating and pulsating to Punjabi beats. But due recognition should be given to people who have put Punjabi music on top, especially Daler Mehndi.
Born and brought up in Patna, he left his home at the age of 14 to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. Mehndi started out as a ghazal singer inspired by the poetry of Qateel Shifai. In the meantime, Punjabi pop revolution was brewing and in 1995 Daler Mehndi cut his first debut album 'Bolo ta ra ra', which sold over half a million copies within a few months of its release.
He earned the title of Channel V's Best male pop singer award for his albums, ‘Dardi rab rab' and 'Ho Jayegi Bale Bale'. Daler Mehndi also dabbled in movies doing item numbers for Bachchan starrer Mrityudaata' and Arjun Pandit.
