Biography of Dimple Kapadia

(June 8, 1957)

Dimple Kapadia was born in 1957. She made moviegoers hold their breath as she charmed her way through to the viewer's hearts with her very first film 'Bobby'. The film made Dimple a nationwide craze with young girls emulating Bobby in their dresses, hairstyles, and even her way of talking. But Dimple chose to relinquish all the accolade and adoration that came her way by marrying Rajesh Khanna, the superstar of that time.

After nine long years, Dimple once again returned to films in Saagar co-starring Rishi Kapoor. Though the film was not successful at the box office, Dimple was much appreciated. In the year 1987, the film 'Insaaf’ brought some success in her career.

In the early 1990s, Dimple ventured into art films by playing soul shredding roles in films like 'Dhristi' and 'Lekin'. Her moment of glory came when she won the National Award for her outstanding performance in 'Rudaali’. Now, Dimple's daughter Twinkle Khanna is well on the path of achieving stardom like her mother.
