Biography of Govinda

Born as Govind Ahuja in Virar, a Mumbai suburb, Govinda has acting in his genes. Govinda debuted in a movie called "Love 86', and continued doing movies usually portraying the role of a dancing star.'Hatya' brought the actor in limelight. The release of ‘Ankhein', directed by David Dhawan in early 1990's, gave Govinda a different image of a comedian hero, which was missing in Hindi movies since the time of Shammi Kapoor. With the support of Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, and Johnny Lever, Govinda gave many hits like 'Raja Babu', 'Coolie No.1', 'Hero No.1', 'Saajan-Chale-Sasural in the early and late 1990's.
With Karishma Kapoor and David Dhawan, he completed a trio, which was the recipe for hit movies in 1990's. Though Govinda was often criticised for his dressing sense and crude dance steps, he stepped aside from all negative talks and continued impressing people. Govinda's one-liners and jokes are still very much adored by his fans. A dutiful family man, Govinda and his perfect sense of humour can bring cheer back into people's lives.
