Biography of Johnny Walker

(March 23, 1924 - July 29, 2003)

The popular Hindi comedian Johnny Walker was born in 1924. His real name was Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi. Balraj Sahni saw him as a bus conductor delivering a speech. He was given a name from the whisky brand Johnny Walker.

In 1951, Johnny Walker came in the film world with the release of Hulchul'. His other movies like ‘Aar Paar', 'Munna', 'Taxi Driver', Railway Platform', 'Chori Chori', 'CID', ‘Naya Daur', ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool', Paigham' are full of comedy.

Johnny Walker's presence provoked the audience to laugh. He played the role of nawab in ‘Chaudhuvin Ka Chand'. Johnny Walker was unable to retain his popularity in the 1980s. He pioneered the tradition of stand-up comedy often practised by his successors who followed his idiosyncratic name: Tony, Brandy or Johnny Lever.

In 1987, he performed in the films 'Mera Karam Mera Dharam' and “The Perfect Murder'. He passed away in 2003.
