Biography of Jeetendra
(April 7, 1942)
Jeetendra was born in 1942. He made his debut in V. Shantaram's film ‘Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne' in 1964. But it was the film 'Farz' that shook and stirred the audience. His dancing persona earned him the name of Jumping Jack' and heralded the beginning of a new star.
He has done more films as a hero than any other actor since the beginning of Hindi cinema. Jeetendra's huge popularity with the masses lay in the fact that he could speak in the voice of the man on the streets, as was evident in the films ‘Jigri Dost’, ‘Humjoli' and 'Caravan'.
In the early 1970s, with the rise of the new superstar, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra was temporarily side-lined. But with the 1974 film ‘Bidaai, he resurfaced once again, and with hit films like ‘Parichay’, ‘Khusbboo’ and ‘Kinara’, he tried his hands at histrionics. Films like Asha', ‘Maang Bharo Sajna' and 'Ek Hi Bhool' marked his foray into the family drama films. During the early 1980's, Jeetendra did a string of films which were remakes of South Indian movies and proved to be big hit.
