Biography of Kamal Hassan

Kamal Hassan was born in 1954 at Paramakundi near Madurai district in Tamil Nadu. He joined films at the young age of six by acting in Tamil films like "Kalathur Kannamma', Parthal Pasi Theerum' and Malayalam film - 'Kannum Karalum'.

His venture as a mature actor was in the hit Telegu film Maro Charthra' and in its equally successful Hindi remake 'Ek Duje Ke Liye', which incidentally was Kamal Hassan's debut Hindi movie. But his attempt of shifting to Hindi Cinema was not very successful.

Kamal Hassan is a trained dancer, having learnt dancing from K.J. Sarasa. Kamal Hassan has always tried to break new grounds with his novel roles, especially in Indian Cinema, as in the wordless comedy Pushpak, the Brando-inspired starring role in 'Nayakan', the role of a dwarf in Apoorva Ragangal or Appu Raja'. Some of his well-acclaimed films are Apoorva Ragangal, Manmatha Leelai, Avargal, Pathinaru Vayanthinile', Aval Appadithan', Maro Charithara'and Raja Parvai’.
