Biography of Prem Chopra

Prem Chopra earned fame as a bad man' in the film industry. He was born in Lahore. His father's name was Ranbirlal Chopra and his mother was called Rooprani. After the partition, his family moved to Simla where he along with his four brothers and one sister did their education. Prem graduated from the Punjab University.
He had been participating in stage since his college days. His talent got due recognition and he has been adjudged the best actor in some of the plays. This encouraged him to spread his wings and try his luck in the Mumbai film industry.
In order to survive the fast life of Mumbai he took up a job in the newspaper 'The Times of India'. While trying to gain his foothold in the film industry, he worked in Punjabi films and some Hindi films like ‘Woh Kaun Thi', ‘Teesri Manzil and ‘Upkaar'. Soon he was recognised. He was an artist people loved to hate. He has raised funds for many noble causes such as buildings, schools, temples for cine artists and for the needy.
