(1926 – 1992)
Prem Nath's mere presence on screen in negative roles would send a chill down people's spine. Born in 1926, Prem Nath, an ex-army man, made fine entry in Bollywood by playing a callous philanderer in the film ‘Barsaat' (1949). He became famous for his role of a cruel prince in the movie ‘Aan' (1952).
He was the highest-paid villain of 1970's. Who can forget the psychotic ‘Rai Saab' of 'Johny Mera Naam'. Being a versatile actor, Prem Nath did full justice to the role of a fisherman in 'Bobby'. Prem Nath's role of an honest police chief in Subash Ghai's 'Kalicharan' is still one of the best-written roles of Hindi Cinema. His villainous role in the film ‘Jani Dushman' is still remembered by the audiences.
Very few people knew that Prem Nath was connected to Raj Kapoor. His sister Krishna was married to Raj Kapoor. His brothers, Narendra Nath and Rajendra Nath also chose career in movies. Prem Nath was married to the famous actress of the 1950's, Bina Rai.
