Biography of Shashi Tharoor

As a writer and diplomat, Shashi Tharoor has explored the diversity of culture in India. He was born in 1956 in London. He got the degree of Bachelor of Arts from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He received a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

In May 1978, he got associated with the U.N and served for over eleven years with the U.N. High Commissioner for refugees. As an author, Shashi Tharoor has written many books. He has also written many editorials, commentaries, and short stories in Indian and Western publications. He is the winner of several literary awards including the Commonwealth Writers Prize. His book 'India: From Midnight to the Millenium' is a non-fiction account of India's past and projected future, inspired by the 50th anniversary of India's Independence. Shashi is a member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London and the American P.E.N. Centre.
