Biography of Sushmita Sen

Sushmita Sen is a former Miss Universe who has ventured into the film industry as an actress. Sushmita was born on November 19, 1975. Sushmita became Miss Universe in 1994 and dazzled the world with her beauty and intelligence. Before this she had won the Femina Miss India contest defeating Aishwarya Rai.

Later Sushmita tried her luck in the film industry. But many people tried to write her off. Sushmita Sen was determined to make her career in films. She got Dastak, her first film, which did not do well. But Sushmita was noticed. She played the role of a Miss Universe in the film. Her film ‘Biwi No. 1' was a superhit. She was given the Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actress for the film.

Later, she did some small roles in various films. Realising her mistake, she decided not to do second fiddle roles. Now she is selective in taking up films. ‘Filhaal’ portrayed her as a matured actress. Her success proved that a model can be a good actor or actress as well.
