Biography of Udit Narayan

Udit Narayan is a famous playback singer of Indian cinema. He has sung innumerable hit songs. He was born in a small town on the Nepal-India border town. While his father willed him to study and choose a vocation, his mother believed that singing was what he was cut out for. Soon after passing out of school, he joined the Kathmandu radio station as a folk singer. He sang in Maithali and Nepali languages.
After about 10 years as a singer in Radio Nepal, he moved to Mumbai on a music scholarship in 1978. He was trained in classical music at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for eight years. He got the opportunity to sing in 'Unees Bees' and 'Bade Dilwala'. But his work went unnoticed. After a long struggle, he got to sing for 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”. The film went on to become a blockbuster and Udit Narayan became a star. Then onwards, he never looked back. He sang hit songs for film like Dil', Darr', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Gadar' and 'Lagaan'.
