Biography of Urmila Matondkar

Urmila Matondkar is one of the good dancers-cum-actresses in the Indian Film Industry. She was born on February 4, 1973, in a middle-class Marathi family. She started her career as a child artist in films like 'Zakol', ‘Kaliyug’ and ‘Masoom'.

As an actress, she got insignificant roles in films like ‘Narsimha' and ‘Chamatkar' and went unrecognised. Then film director Ram Gopal Varma spotted her talent. He cast her in his film 'Rangeela'. The film went on to become a huge success. The film had good music too. The film changed Urmila's image to a seductive, glamorous actress and gave her career a much-needed boost. With Ram Gopal Varma she acted in other films like 'Kaun, Daud', ‘Jungle', 'Bhoot’.

Her fine performance in ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’ and in the film ‘Khoobsurat' put her amidst the leading actresses of Bollywood. Urmila is also considered a good dancer.
