Atom in Peace and War

An atom is no longer at the smallest indivisible particle. The split of atoms has given us a lot of energy which we can use in either way. A drop of water contains so many atoms. If everyone in the world begins to count them it will take at least 10,000 years to count them all. Now when an atom is split it gives a lot of heat and this can be converted into energy and it can be further used for the betterment of mankind. But the atom bomb, the destroyer of mankind was made by using the splitting of the atom phenomenon.

6th August 1945 was the unlucky day in the history of mankind which saw the killing of millions of people by two atom bombs in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since then the scientists have changed their ideology of thoughts. They are trying and convert this atomic energy for the benefit of mankind. Atomic power is going to be used for driving steamship, railway engines, automobiles and aeroplanes. Homes will be heated by it and industrial machinery will be driven by it cities will be lighted. Food will be cooked by it.

At present scientists have realized that an atom has tremendous power. Indian Prime Minister has already announced that India will use atomic energy for the benefit of mankind only. Atomic energy is not bad in itself. It is a great power and it can be used either way. This great source of energy is going to fashion the future of mankind greatly. The 'Jinn' is out. We can use the 'Jinn' for the good of mankind. With proper use of atomic energy, we can turn the swords into plough shares.

The installation of atomic energy will meet the shortage of coal and petroleum in the world. Rockets driven by atomic energy will make travel between the plants easier. With the proper use of atomic energy, the standard of living all over the world will rise. Prices of essential commodities will go down. Agriculture, industry, transport, and medicine all will be benefitted from atomic energy.

At the same time, man is keeping himself ready for war as well. All kinds of deadly weapons have been prepared and kept ready to strike with remote controls. It is well-known fact that wars bring annihilation, destruction. But still, there are many who indulge in it. The latest war with Iraq is an example. Let us hope that goodwill prevails and man starts using atoms to the advantage of us all.
