Games are very valuable for students. It has been rightly said, 'Health is Wealth'. We can keep fit and healthy by playing games. Games are becoming very popular. We see schoolboys playing one or the other game. We have State level games, National games, Asian games, Olympic Games. We can measure the progress and strength of a nation by the medals won at International games.

Games are very useful for the body. The human body needs exercise to keep fit. Exercise keeps disease away. Those who take exercise daily, seldom fall ill. It is, therefore, very essential for every student to play one or the other game. Games also keep away idleness and laziness, from our body. A book-worm who does not play any games is bound to be physically weak.

Games teach physical education. Physical education builds character. It is thus more important than bookish education. So we should make every student play some game. Games teach the spirit of sportsmanship. Playgrounds must form a part of every educational institution.

Games also develop in our discipline, character, 'fair dealing, and honesty. Games infuse in us the spirit of courage and patience. We can safely say that games mould and influence our personality. These also help us in having leadership qualities. A captain is a leader and every player obeys him and is always co-operative. The players are always disciplined.

There are many games and these are usually classified as indoor and outdoor games. Indoor games include chess, carom board, badminton, table-tennis, etc. while hockey, cricket, football, swimming, tennis, etc. are outdoor games. While playing outdoor games, the extra fat from our body is lost and we get new energy. Games also inculcate in us the habit of healthy competition. Games are an interesting and entertaining pastime.

Athletes are a sign of the health of a nation. Some players are the ornaments of their institutions. Some of the players are the pride of their country. They take part in international meets. They win medals in the Olympic Games. Nowadays, games have acquired international importance. Players of one country go to another country to take part in matches. Matches on the international level help in developing friendly relations between different people. This may lead to co-operation in other fields also. Live telecasts on T.V. entertain people all over the world.

It is a matter of great satisfaction that women have also started taking part in games. They are ahead in the same field.
