Sir,

At the onset, I would like to congratulate you upon the improved contents of your programmes on the Doordarshan and its other channel namely the Metro, DD-3, the Movie Channel

Not only are the programmes more current, but their presence is also attractive.

Besides, they can also be viewed along with the family. Programmes relating to health care, AIDS, immunization, current affairs, share bazaar, etc, add to our knowledge. Which in turn help us in dispelling many myths and wrong notions about them.

However, excess of film-based programmes, to a certain extent, take away the seriousness out of this otherwise excellent mix of programmes.

I feel that a balance between film-based and other programmes plating to youth, current affairs, women issues, environment, business, etc. should be corrected so that the viewing pleasure can be maintained. I would like to further add that strict quality control both in terms of Software and the hardware of Doordarshan will help in doing away with regular technical and other programme related 'glitches'. The producers on the panel would do much better if they pay attention to inadvertently left on microphones or bungled vision mixing.

I would end my letter by once again congratulating you and the fine panel of selectors of programmes who are doing an excellent job.
