Biography of Subhash Ghai

(January 24, 1943)

Subhash Ghai is a successful film director of India. He is called the Showman of the Mumbai Film Industry. He was born at Nagpur in Maharashtra. He was brought up in Delhi. He did B.Com from Punjab University. Then he took training in acting from E.T.I.I.

He acted in films like 'Natak', 'Umang', 'Gumrah' and 'Grahan', but he was not recognised as an actor. Then he decided to try his luck in film direction. Subhash's directorial debut film ‘Kalicharan' was released in 1976. Since then he has never looked back.

He established his own production company—the Mukta Arts Pvt. Ltd. and made the film 'Hero'. His another superhit film 'Karma' was released in 1986. His other successful films include ‘Vishwanath', ‘Vidhata', 'Meri Jung’, ‘Ram Lakhan', 'Saudagar’, ‘Khalnayak', ‘Pardes’ and ‘Taal’.

Subhash Ghai introduced many stars like Meenakshi Seshadri, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala and Mahima Chaudhary.
